Day 4: UGH! I want to die!

You may have noticed that I didn’t post day 4 on day 4.  It is because Day 4 knocked me out.  It started out great!  I felt awesome when I woke up.  In fact, one of the other participants said she thought I seemed unusually perky for someone who was fasting.  The morning lecture was Cathy Fisher from StraightUpFood.com,  I love her website and recipes.  I particularly have found her “My Meals” page to be helpful as I look to how I’m going to handle this new way of eating going forward.  Too often I think I need a fancy recipe to get me through when, if I follow the example on the My Meals page, I can see that it doesn’t have to be complicated and often a recipe isn’t required at all.  If you have a chance, check out her website.  Her recipes rock.  For the demonstration, she made a potato soup, and spinach and mango salad, and a raw apple crumble.  They were easy and smelled delicious.  As soon as she started dishing up samples for people to taste, I hustled out of there.

I came back to my room and watched a couple of DVD’s and waited for Dr. Isabeau’s lecture at 2:00.  By the time 2:00 rolled around, I had a mild headache, was starting to experience some GERD, and my back was on fire.  But I went.  He talked about the importance of exercise and some exercise strategies.  It was good.

I spend the rest of the night wondering where all of the bile in my gut came from, wondering if I would feel better if I could just throw it up, not being able to find a comfortable position whether standing, sitting or lying down because my back hurt so bad, and nursing a headache from hell.

When the doctors came around in the afternoon, they brought me some sparkling water to help with GERD issue.  It was a blessing and helped that upset stomach settle a bit.  I went to bed by 9 and struggled to sleep due to discomfort.  Luckily the GERD hasn’t been too bad today.

My stats for day 4:  weight: 307.6, bp: 142/84, and temp 97.9

I hope to not repeat this day.

On a good note, I think I heard from each of my brothers in the past few days and many friends.  Thanks for keeping me in your prayers!
